How to Prepare for your Massage

Whether you are getting a massage for the first time or the thousandth. There are a few things you can do before you lie down on the table that will enhance the benefits of your massage.

Avoid eating right before massage.
As massage certainly stimulates digestion.
You will be uncomfortable during your treatment if you have a full stomach.

Avoid caffeine intake before your appointment as caffeine stimulates instead of relaxing the body.

Do not drink alcohol before your appointment.
When you get a massage your body moves toxins in your body, therefore any ill effects the alcohol has caused may be amplified.

Drink plenty of water following your appointment.
Massage gets your blood and oxygen circulating as they should but a massage is dehydrating in nature. Staying hydrated before and after a massage is recommended because the water helps flush those released

Get yourself into a relaxed state before you arrive, Remember this is an enjoyable experience that is designed to reduce stress and anxiety, not to cause it. Play calming music on your way over, and breeze in whit plenty of time to spare before your appointment. When arriving in a frenzied rush, it takes longer for body to relax into the treatment.

Taking a hot shower or soak in a hot bath before coming in. This will not only help your mind to relax, but it will soften the skin and muscle tissues making them more receptive to massage.

Wear Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to your appointment. This will help continue the effects of the treatment as you slip back into your clothing, and leave the spa. Take off any make-up you may have put on for the day. If you have longer hair, pull it back or up to allow for neck and shoulder access.

Before we get started, be sure to voice any concerns or questions about what we’ll be working on during the session so you can relax into the treatment.
